Christ Crucified
AND when I came to you brothers, I did not come with superiority of speech or wisdom: declaring to you the testimony of God;
2 For I determined not to know anything among you, except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.
3 ¶ And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
4 And my message and my preaching was not with persuasive words of man’s wisdom, rather in demonstration of the Spirit and power:
5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
The Wisdom of God
6 ¶ But we speak wisdom among the mature: yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the princes of this age, that come to nought:
7 Rather we speak the wisdom of God, in the form of a mystery that was hidden, which God predestined before the age for our glory:
8 Which none of the rulers of this age knew: for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
9 Rather, as it is written: Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither has entered into the heart of man, that which God has prepared for those that love him.
10 ¶ But God revealed them to us through his Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, even the deep secrets of God.
11 For what man knows the things of a man, but only the spirit of that man which is in him? Even so, the things of God knows no man, but the Spirit of God.
12 ¶ Now we have not received the spirit of this world; rather, the Spirit which is from God, so that we may know the things that God has generously bestowed on us;
13 Which we also speak of, not in the words which man’s wisdom teaches; rather, that which the Holy Spirit teaches: teaching spiritual things to those with the Spirit.
14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness to him; neither is he able to understand them, since they are spiritually discerned.
15 But he who has received the Spirit discerns all things, yet himself is understood by no one.
16 For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.
