Purge Out the Leaven
IT is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you; and such a kind of immorality, of which, it is not even named among the Gentiles: that one should have his father’s wife.
2 And you are proud, and have not instead mourned: that he that did this deed, might be expelled from among you.
3 For I, as absent in body, but present in spirit: have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that has done this.
4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, also with me in spirit; together with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ:
5 Deliver such a one to Satan in order to destroy the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
6 ¶ Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven, leavens the whole lump of dough?
7 Therefore clean out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, as you are to be unleavened. And for our Passover is Christ sacrificed in the place of us.
8 Therefore let us observe the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; rather without leaven, in sincerity and truth.
Put Away the Wicked Among You
9 ¶ I wrote to you in a letter not to associate with the sexually immoral;
10 But not altogether with the sexually immoral of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; since then, you would be obligated to depart from this world.
11 But now I have written to you, not to associate if any is called a brother: who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a slanderer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such a one do not even eat together.
12 For who am I to judge those outside? Should you not judge those that are inside?
13 But those outside God will judge. But you: Remove the wicked man from among you.
