We Shall see Him as He Is
BEHOLD, what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called the sons of God! Because of this, the world does not know us, for it did not know him.
2 Beloved, now we are the sons of God, and it does not yet appear what we will be; but, we know that when he appears, we will be like him; for, we will see him just as he is.
3 And, everyone that has this hope in him, purifies himself: just as he is pure.
Sin is Lawlessness
4 ¶ Whosoever commits sin, also commits lawlessness: for sin is lawlessness.
5 And you know, that he appeared in order to take away our sins; and in him, is no sin.
6 Whosoever abides in him, does not sin; whosoever sins, has not seen him, nor knows him.
7 ¶ Children, let no one lead you astray: he that does what is right, is righteous; just as he is righteous.
8 He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning: The Son of God appeared for this purpose: that he, bring to nothing the works of the devil.
9 ¶ Whosoever is born of God, does not commit sin, for his seed remains in him: and he is able, not to sin: because he is born of God.
10 By this, the children of God and the children of the devil, are clearly known: whosoever does not practice righteousness is not of God; neither he, that does not love his brother.
11 ¶ For, this is the message that you heard from the beginning: that we love one another.
12 Not as Kain, who was of the evil one, and slew his brother. And, for what reason did he slay him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.
13 Be not amazed my brothers, if the world hates you.
Passed From Death to Life
14 ¶ We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brothers. He that loves not his brother, abides in death.
15 Whosoever hates his brother, is a murderer: and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.
16 Hereby, we know the love of God: that, he laid down his life for us; and, we are obligated to lay down our lives for the brothers.
17 But, whoso has this the good of this world, and sees his brother having need, and closes up the bowels of his compassion from him; how does the love of God in abide in him?
18 ¶ My children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; rather, in deed and in truth;
19 And by this, we know that we are of the truth, and assure our hearts before him.
20 Because, if our heart condemns us: God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.
21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, then have we confidence before God.
22 ¶ And whatsoever we ask, we receive from him: because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
23 And this is his commandment: That we believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he gave us commandment.
24 And he that keeps his commandments abides in him; and he, in him. And by this, we know that he abides in us: by the Spirit which he has given us.
