Believers Overcome the World
WHOSOEVER believes that Jesus is the Christ, is born of God; and every one that loves the father, loves Him also that is born of Him.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God: when, we love God and keep his commandments.
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments; and his commandments are not burdensome.
4 For whatsoever is born of God, conquers the world: and this is the victory that conquers the world: Our faith!
5 Who is he that conquers the world? But he, that believes that Jesus is the Son of God!
God Bears Witness
6 ¶ This is He that came by water and blood: Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that bears witness, because the Spirit is truth.
7 For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit: and these three are one.
8 And there are three that bear witness in earth: the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
9 ¶ If we accept the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is the witness of God: that, He has testified concerning his Son.
10 He that believes in the Son of God, has testimony within himself; he that does not believe God, has made him a liar; because he does not believe the testimony that God gave concerning his Son.
11 And this is the testimony: that God has given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12 ¶ He that has the Son, has life; but, he that does not have the Son of God, does not have life.
13 These things I have written to you that believe in the name of the Son of God; that you may know that, you have eternal life; and that you, may believe in the name of the Son of God.
God Hears Us
14 ¶ And this is the confidence that we have in him: that, if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
15 And, if we know that he hears whatsoever we ask: we know, that we have the requests that we have asked of him.
16 ¶ If any man see his brother commit a sin, which is a sin not resulting in death; ask, and God shall give him life for the sin not resulting in death. There is sin resulting in death: I do not say, that he shall ask for that.
17 All unrighteousness is sin: but, there is sin not resulting in death.
Knowing the Truth
18 ¶ We know that whosoever is born of God does not sin; but he that is begotten of God keeps himself, and the evil one cannot harm him.
19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.
20 And we know that the Son of God has come, and given us understanding; that we may know Him that is true, and we are in him that is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and the life eternal.
21 ¶ Children, guard yourselves from idols. Amen.
