Not Shaken in Affliction
THEREFORE when we could no longer forbear, it seemed good to us to be left at Athens alone;
2 And to send Timothy, our brother, and servant of God, and our fellow worker in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to encourage you concerning your faith:
3 That no man should be shaken in these afflictions: for you know that into this we are appointed.
4 ¶ For also, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that you would suffer affliction; and it came to pass, just as you know.
5 Because of this, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter had tempted you, and our labour was in vain.
6 But now when Timothy came from you to us, and brought us good news of your faith and love, and that you have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:
7 By this, brothers, we were encouraged over you in all our tribulation and distress through your faith:
8 For now we live, if you stand fast in the Lord.
Blameless at Christs Coming
9 ¶ For what thanks can we recompense to God again concerning you, on top of all the joy which we rejoice in, because of you before our God?
10 Night and day pleading in prayer that we might see your face, and might complete that which is lacking in your faith.
11 Now may God himself our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way to you.
12 And may the Lord make you to increase and abound in love, one toward another, and toward all men, just as we toward you:
13 To the end he may establish your hearts, blameless in holiness before God, our Father, in the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his holy ones.
