This is an interesting chapter.
First is speaks of a great falling away in the later days which we are in. For this reason we must always compare our faith to that written in the bible to guard against deceptive doctrines that have been introduced over the centuries since Christ.
Also Paul talks about Timothy saving himself and those that hear him by paying close attention to doctrine, the inverse of this being if Timothy doesn’t pay close attention to these things, he will not be able to save himself or anyone else. This goes against the once saved always saved doctrine of our time, which clearly isn’t scriptural and probably ties back into the start of the chapter where Paul warns Timothy of the doctrines of demons.
