Honour Masters
LET as many bond-servants as are under the yoke regard their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine not be blasphemed.
2 And those that have believing masters, let them not despise them because they are brothers; but rather do them service, because those that partake of the benefit are believers and beloved. These things teach and encourage.
Keep Your Confession
3 ¶ If any man teaches otherwise, and agrees not to sound words, the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness:
4 He is extremely arrogant, understanding nothing, but morbidly desiring about disputes and arguments of words, of which comes envy, strife, blaspheme, evil suspicions;
5 Constant arguing of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that godliness is a means of gain: from such as these withdraw yourself.
6 ¶ But godliness is great gain, when accompanied with contentment with what one has.
7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8 And having food and raiment let us be content with this.
9 But those that want to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful desires, which plunge men in death and destruction.
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which, while some have desired after it, they have strayed from the faith, and pierced themselves with much anxiety.
11 ¶ But you, O man of God, flee these things; and pursue after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, meekness.
12 Fight the good fight of the faith, take hold of eternal life, into which you are also called, and have confessed a good confession before many witnesses.
13 I give you command in the sight of God, who gives life to all, and before Christ Jesus, who bore witness before Pontius Pilate the good confession;
14 That you keep this commandment without spot, beyond reproach, until the intervening of our Lord Jesus Christ:
15 Which, in his own times he will make known, who is the blessed and only ruler, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
16 Who only has immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach; whom no man has seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and eternal power to rule. Amen.
Command The Rich
17 ¶ Command those that are rich in this age, that they be not arrogant, nor put their hope on uncertain riches, but in the living God, who abundantly gives to us all things to enjoy;
18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, generous, willing to share with others;
19 Storing up for themselves a good foundation into the time to come, that they may lay hold of eternal life.
Protect The Faith
20 ¶ O Timothy, guard closely that which is committed to your trust, turning away from worldly and empty talk, and contradictions of falsely named knowledge:
21 Which some profess; and concerning the faith have lost their way. Grace be with you. Amen.
