Greeting
PAUL, Silvanus, and Timothy, to the congregation of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
2 Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
God’s Judgement & Glory
3 ¶ We owe thanks to God always for you, brothers, as is fitting; because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you all, towards each other grows greater;
4 So that we ourselves boast in you, in the congregations of God for your endurance and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you forbear:
5 This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, in that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer:
6 ¶ Since indeed it is a righteous thing with God to pay back affliction to those that afflict you;
7 Also, to you who are afflicted: relief together with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his powerful Angels,
8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on those that know not God, and obey not the gospel of our Lord, Jesus Christ:
9 Who will pay the penalty of everlasting destruction, from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his might;
10 ¶ When he comes in that day to be glorified in his holy ones, and to be admired among all those that believe (because our testimony among you was believed).
11 To this end, we also pray always concerning you: that our God would consider you worthy of the calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith in power:
12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
