This is an interesting chapter, but what made it more interesting was the comparisons I’ve been doing between the King James, Geneva and Tyndale bibles as I translate.
None of these translations are perfect and there are areas where the King James is an improvement as it should be having built on the foundation of the earlier two translations.
But there are certainly areas where the King James has gone backwards and been less faithful than the earlier two translations.
For instance the Tyndale and Geneva bibles translate V17 similar to me and modern scholars that the empty words will spread like cancer. Whereas King James has it as eating like a canker (worm)? This is very strange and not the only example.
While it would be nice to say that yes the Geneva or the Tyndale is a better translation, this is not the case all the time as the King James is better in other areas.
