One Body, One Spirit
THEREFORE, I the prisoner of the Lord, plead that you walk worthily of the commission with which you are called,
2 With all humility and meekness, with patience, being tolerant with one another in love;
3 Labouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
4 ¶ There is one body, and one Spirit, even as you are commissioned in one hope of your calling;
5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
Spiritual Gifts
7 ¶ And to each one of us grace is given according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
8 Therefore he said: When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men.
9 (Now that he ascended; who is it, if not he that also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10 He that descended is also the same that ascended above all the heavens, so that he might fulfil all things).
11 ¶ And he gave some to be apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some shepherds and teachers;
12 For the purpose of equipping the holy people concerning the work of service, for the building of the body of Christ:
13 Until we all come into the oneness of the faith, and the knowledge of the Son of God; into the measure of age, a mature man in the fulness of Christ.
14 ¶ So that we are no longer small children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine by the craftiness of men, and by treachery whereby they scheme to deceive;
15 But speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
16 Of whom, the whole body is joined together and united through the support of every ligament; according to the working of every part by its measure; bringing about growth in the body for the purpose of building itself up in love.
New Man in Christ
17 ¶ This I say therefore and testify in the Lord, that you no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind.
18 Having their mind darkened, being estranged from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, on account of the hardness of their heart.
19 Who having lost all feeling of shame, have given themselves over to lascivious behaviour to work every kind of uncleanness in covetousness.
20 ¶ But you have not learned this way from Christ
21 (if you have heard him, and been taught by him); as the truth is in Jesus.
22 That you put away, concerning the former conduct, the old man which is corrupt according to the deceitful desires.
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that you clothe yourself in the new man, which in relation to God is created in true righteousness and holiness.
Give no Place to the Devil
25 ¶ Therefore put away lying, every man speak truth with his neighbour: for we are members of one another.
26 Be angry, but do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your wrath;
27 Neither give place to the devil.
28 ¶ Let him that stole, steal no more, but rather let him labour, working with his hands that which is good, so that he may have something to give to those in need.
29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, rather that which is good for the building up of what is needed, that it may give grace to the hearers.
30 And do not grieve the holy Spirit of God, by whom you are sealed until the day of redemption.
31 ¶ Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and shouting, and slander, be put away from you, together with all malice:
32 And be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another, just as God for Christ’s sake has also forgiven you.
