God’s Order in Relationships
CHILDREN, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
2 Honour your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise:
3 That it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.
4 ¶ And fathers, do not provoke your children to anger: rather bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
5 ¶ Bond-servants, obey your lords according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in generosity of your heart, as to Christ;
6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the bond-servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
7 Serving with zeal, as to the Lord, and not to men:
8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing each man does, the same he will receive back from the Lord, whether he be a bond-servant or a freeman.
9 ¶ And lords, do the same to them: stop threatening, knowing that your Lord is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.
The Armour of God
10 ¶ Finally my brothers, become strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Clothe yourself in the whole armour of God, so that you will be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
12 Because we struggle not against flesh and blood, rather against rulers, against authorities, against those that have seized this world, the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual wickedness in heaven.
13 ¶ For this reason take up the whole armour of God, so that you will be able to resist in the day of evil, having done thoroughly everything to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod in readiness to proclaim the gospel of peace;
16 In addition to all, taking up the shield of faith, by which you will be able to extinguish all the fiery arrows of the evil-one.
17 And take hold of the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Through all prayer and pleading, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end, in all perseverance and pleading for all the holy people.
Pray for Paul
19 ¶ And for me, that the word may be given to me, that I may open my mouth in boldness, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 For which I am an ambassador in chains: that in him I may speak boldly, as I must speak.
21 And, also that you may know my affairs and how I fare, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful servant in the Lord, shall make known to you all these things:
22 Whom I have sent to you for the same purpose, that you might know our affairs, and that he might encourage your hearts.
23 ¶ Peace be to the brothers, and love combined with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Grace be with them all that love our Lord Jesus Christ in undying love. Amen.
