Finally finished another chapter after a couple of busy weeks.
Very interesting chapter which first talks about head coverings for women. There seems to be no doubt according to Paul that women are expected to cover their head when they pray or prophesy.
I’ve heard many say that is out dated and doesn’t apply today. But I thought Jesus said not one jot or one tiddle would pass from the law until all be fulfilled? Anyway, you decide!
Verse 10 talks about women needing to have authority on their head on account of the Angels. This refers back to Genesis chapter six where we are told of the sons of God (Angels) saw that daughters of Adam (women) were beautiful and took wives of them.
The chapter then talks about the Lord’s supper and the problems the early congregation had in regards to this. The most interesting part of this for me was in verse 25. The King James translators added an extra ‘it’ which for me gave the sentence a different meaning to the intended. Please compart the two:
King James: This cup is the new covenant in my blood: do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.
My Translation: This cup is the new covenant in my blood: do this, as often as you drink, in remembrance of me.
In the Greek it seems to me Jesus is saying as often as you drink wine, do this in remembrance of me.
But in the King James its saying as often as you take the Lord’s supper do this in remembrance of me.
