Let Brotherly Love Continue
LET brotherly love continue.
2 Forget not, to receive and show hospitality to strangers: for by this, some have received Angels as guests unaware.
3 Remember those that are in bonds, as bound with them; and those which suffer ill-treatment, as also ourselves are in the body.
4 Marriage should be honoured among all, and the bed undefiled: and the sexually immoral and adulterers God will judge.
5 Let your way of life be without the love of money; and be content with what you have, for he has said: I will never leave you, nor forsake you.
6 So that we may boldly say: The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do to me.
7 ¶ Remember those which lead you, whom have spoken to you the word of God: reflecting upon the outcome of their way of life, and imitating their faith.
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever.
9 Be not lead astray with diverse and strange doctrines. Because it is better that the heart be established with charity; not with observance of meals, which have not benefited those that have been occupied by them;
10 We have an altar, from which they have no right to eat, those which serve the tent.
Jesus Suffered Outside the Gate
11 ¶ For the bodies of those animals, whose blood is brought into the holy place by the high priest for sin, are burned outside the camp.
12 Therefore Jesus also, in order to make the people holy with his own blood, suffered outside the gate.
13 Let us go out therefore to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach.
14 For we have no continuing city here, rather we seek one about to come.
15 Through him therefore, let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips acknowledging his name.
16 But forget not, to do good deeds and fellowship also: because with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
Obey the Rulers, Pray for Us
17 ¶ Obey those that govern you, and submit yourselves: for they keep watch for the sake your souls, as those that must give account; that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is of no advantage to you.
18 Pray for us: for we are convinced that we have a good conscience in all things, desiring to live honestly.
19 In addition, I beseech you greatly to do this, that I may be restored to you swiftly.
Exhortation and Farewell
20 ¶ Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the eternal covenant:
21 Complete in you every good work, for the purpose of doing his will, performing in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory always and forever, Amen.
22 ¶ And I beseech you brothers, receive and tolerate this word of encouragement: because I have written a letter to you in but only a few words.
23 You know that our brother Timothy is set free; with whom, if he comes shortly, I will see you.
24 Greet all those that govern you, and all the holy ones. They of Italy send greetings to you.
25 His grace be with you all, Amen.
