שְׁאוֹל This word was translated as ‘grave’ and ‘hell’ in the King James Old Testament. I have transliterated it to ‘Sheol’ and used it consistently. It is up to the read to decide which word Sheol lines up with in the New Testament ‘Hell’ or ‘Hades’. By consistent translation the English reader can perform a diligent word study in this area.
