The Hebrew word פְלֶ֙שֶׁת֙,
has been translated by the King James translators as both ‘Philistia’ and ‘Palestina’ and ‘Palestine’. Clearly this makes it hard for the reader to see when the Hebrew uses the same name. Also it introduces a reengineering of history.
Philistia was a true country in biblical times which included the cities of Tyre and Zidon and was the home of the Philistines whom much is written about in the Bible. Palestine was a name created by the Romans after they destroyed Israel in 70AD and they renamed the land to try and destroy the Jewish peoples connection and claim to the land.
For the King James translators to translate scriptures dating back before 70AD to include the name Palestine and Palestina is either sloppy at best or anti-Semitic at worst. Also the area talked about is a small area on the coast whereas Palestine was the name given by the Romans to the whole of Israel.
I have now corrected this to say Philistia where this Hebrew word is used.
