Chapter 2

The Congregation in Ephesus

“UNTO the angel of the congregation of Ephesus write: These things saith He that holds the seven stars in His right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands:

I know your works, and your labour, and your endurance; and how you cannot bear those that are wicked; and you have put to the test, those that say they are apostles, and are not, and have found them liars.

And have borne, and have endured; and for my name’s sake: have laboured, and have not wearied.

Nevertheless I have against you: because you have left your first love.

Remember therefore, from where you have fallen, and repent, and do the first works! Or else I will come to you quickly, and will remove your lampstand out of its place, if you do not repent!

But this you have: that you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the congregations: To him that overcomes will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.”

The Congregation in Smyrna

“And unto the angel of the congregation in Smyrna write: These things saith the first and the last, who was dead, and is alive:

I know your works, and tribulation, and poverty: but you are rich; and I know the blasphemy of those which say they are Jews, and are not: but are the synagogue of Satan.

Fear none of those things which you shall suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that you may be put to the test; and you shall have tribulation ten days: be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life!

He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the congregations: He that overcomes shall not be harmed of the second death.”

The Congregation in Pergamum

“And to the angel of the congregation in Pergamos write: These things saith He which has the sharp double edged sword:

I know your works, and where you dwell, even where Satan’s throne is; and you hold fast my name, and have not denied my faith, even in the days wherein Antipas my faithful witness was slain among you, where Satan dwells.

But I have a few things against you, because you have there, those that hold the teaching of Balaam: who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality.

So have you also, those that hold the teachings of the Nicolaitans, which I hate.

Repent; or else I will come to you quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the congregations: To him that overcomes, will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and upon the stone a new name written: which no man knows, except he that receives it.”

The Congregation in Thyatira

“And unto the angel of the congregation in Thyatira write: These things saith the Son of God, who has His eyes as a flame of fire, and His feet likened to fine brass:

I know your works, and love, and service, and faith, and your endurance; and your later works be more than the first.

Notwithstanding I have a few things against you, because you permit that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess: to teach and to seduce my servants to sexual immorality; and to eat things sacrificed to idols.

And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality; and she repented not.

Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and those that commit adultery with her into great affliction, except they repent of their works.

And I will kill her children with death; and all the congregations shall know that I am He which searches the inner parts and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.”

“And to you I say, and to the rest in Thyatira: as many as do not have this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they say: I will put upon you, no other burden:

Except that which you have already, hold fast until I come.

And he that overcomes, and keeps my works until the end: to him will I give authority over the nations;

And he shall shepherd them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

And I will give him the morning star.

He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the congregations.
