This scripture is an English classic in poetry and phrase. However it is slightly misleading and I have had to change it. A more faithful translation is “The righteous through faith shall live”, the old translation gives an impression that you should live your life through faith (which is true), whereas the scriptures intent is to teach that: through their faith the righteous shall have life.
The word that was translated as ‘just’ was also translated as righteousness in other passages, this is not helpful for learning as this is a key word. I have updated ‘just’ to righteous’ in this scripture to rectify this. In future I will also correct the other occurrences to be more consistent.
For any of you that are upset at me changing this scripture I’m a little upset at it too, it was an English classic in its original form. However when it comes to a choice between staying with tradition and being faithful to the word of God, the choice is clear.
